The mid-ë80s: the first results appear in Thesauri, linguistic sources, classical literature and ancient history
The mid-ë80s saw new prospects for research, especially in the fields of linguistics and ancient history. Electronic editions of ancient literary sources were made available. But these important results were achieved at great centres of excellence, with extensive human and financial resources, able to create such programs.
This stage saw the development mostly of computational linguistics centres, centres for studying the ancients, focusing in particular on
Greek and Roman inscriptions, a discipline which provided excellent results thanks to the application of new technologies. At the same time, new art analysis and study software was developed, in particular the Kleio project, by Manfred Taller (Max Plank Insitut).
IT applications used in historical research evolved gradually, at an individual level.
